Located north of Ottawa/Gatineau and north-west of Montreal, Maniwaki is situated beside the Gatineau River, along Hwy 105. It is the administrative centre for La Vallee-de-la-Gatineau Regional County Municipality, Quebec. Here you will find all the amenities of a small city -- a hospital, shopping, restaurants, and cinema.

Linear Park Trail System (www.canadatrails.ca) winds its way through the Gatineau Valley for about 150 km from Gatineau Park to Grand Remous, with almost half the distance on the Log Drivers Bike Path (Veloroute des draveurs). This route is part of the Canada Trail System and is just a portion of the 700 km loop that links Montreal with Ottawa via Mont-Tremblat, Mont-Laurier and Blue Sea Lake. Linear Park represents one of the most fascinating year-round trail systems in Eastern Canada. From spring to late fall the cycling is incredible. In the winter switch gears and navigate the trails on your snowmobile.

• This is snowmobiling country. Les Ours Blancs (www.oursblancs.com) is the local organization that connects snowmobiling enthusiasts with a well maintained local trail system.

The Corporation de gestion de la Foret de L’Aigle or Eagle Forest (www.cgfa.ca) is only a short 20 kilometre drive from Wyndswept. It offers many recreation and eco-tourism opportunities such as zip-lining in the pine forest above the Hibou river (Aerofil), hiking in a pine canopy with 21 walkways high above the forest floor (AerialTrek), as well as more conventional hiking, quad, snowmobiling, X-country skiing and horseback trails.

Association of Little and Big Cedar Lakes trail system is on Wyndswept’s doorstep. A new and exciting non-motorized four-season trail system, visitors enjoy hiking, cycling, riding, snowshoeing and X-country skiing.

Bonnet Rouge Rafting (www.bonnetrougerafting.com) is located at the exit of the Gatineau River white water in Ste-Therese-de-la-Gatineau, Quebec. “Bonnet Rouge” is the last rapid on the Gatineau River.
